Our 2010 Season

Round 4: Sandown - 24 & 25 July 2010

Another clean sweep for the Rocket Racing team in a field of 24 HQ's. Qualifying wasn't too flash when we went out on Dry Tyres on a damp track and managed only 6th place but the races proved more successful.

The 'Dallas Crane Challenge'

On June 15, 2010, Dallas Crane, our Club President, friend, mentor and 20 year veteran of HQ Racing, lost his all too short battle with Cancer. This Round at Winton was dedicated to Dallas to show our appreciation for everything he's done for our category, club and members. This Round was also part of the Shannon's Nationals and gave the HQ's some great Television coverage on SBS 'Speedweek' and Foxtel's 'Inside Speed'.

Round 1: Phillip Island - 17 & 18 April 2010

The first points round for the 2010 series was an absolute blinder which started with fantastic weather at the Phillip Island circuit all weekend and Rod taking wins in all three races. A number of guys had problems blowing engines and head gaskets, perhaps due to the unusually warm weather.

2010 Preparation

During the off-season after 2009, our team has been busy preparing the car for our 2010 Race Calendar, particularly the Tyrepower HQ Challenge at Mount Panorama, Bathurst in February. After the last round at Winton Motor Raceway in November, the engine was removed and sent to Keith Davidson of Davidson Race Engines for a freshen-up and some modifications to comply with new piston bowl shape and combustion chamber capacity regulations.

The car, minus engine, was then sent to the guys at Knox Panel Service to repair the minor bumps and scrapes received over the previous 18 Months of hard racing. Gary and the boys have done a fantastic job bringing our HQ back to pristine condition and looking fantastic for the start of another season.

Once the completed engine and body were re-united, the car was then sent to Nev Haley at 'Autotrac Advanced Automotive' to perform his magic running-in and tuning the engine.

Andy Williams from AW Motorsport did a great job redesigning and producing our new signage on the car, making everything complete for the start of our 2010 Racing Season.
